Nationwide Title Clearing and County Commissioner John Morroni raise awareness for the American Cancer Society at the 2012 Relay For Life of Palm Harbor Event.

PRESS RELEASE - Palm Harbor, Fla. (PRWEB) March 26, 2012 - Nationwide Title Clearing (NTC) will show their support for County Commissioner John Morroni by sponsoring him as their inspirational survivor and making him an honorary team member at the 2012 Relay For Life of Palm Harbor event. Employees of NTC, a leading national post-closing services provider for the residential mortgage industry, have so far collected over $5,200 in donations this year for the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life of Palm Harbor. NTC invites and encourages employees and friends to join them in the fight against this disease. A close friend to a long-time employee of NTC, John Morroni is currently fighting his own personal battle with cancer for the second time. “John has always been fighting for the community, and it is time everyone fights for him,” said Bruce Sheehey, NTC employee. Morroni is a decorated community service citizen and past awards have included but are not limited to: Florida Sheriffs Association Lifetime Honorary Membership (1999), Pinellas County Council of Firefighters "Appreciation" Award (1999), Clearwater Jaycees "Good Government" Award (1995) and Pinellas Park/Gateway Chamber of Commerce “Lloyd Tingler Good Government Award” (2009).

“We all need to realize how much John has done for our community and take this opportunity to do something for him. The Relay For Life of Palm Harbor event is a remarkable way to raise money and awareness for a disease that can affect anyone. It is our turn to give back and show support” commented Sheehey.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event, and is driven by volunteers. Relay for Life began in 1985 when colorectal surgeon Dr. Gordon Klatt decided to raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of his patients by walking around a track in a 24 hour period. Today, Relay For Life events are held in more than 5,000 communities spanning 21 countries and have raised an estimated over $3 billion. All proceeds go to funding cancer research with the aims of stomping out the disease. In addition to fundraising, the event also raises awareness of the disease and furthers the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, helping them get well, and by finding cures and fighting back.
