    Nationwide Title Clearing County Update: Maryland Statewide Change

    Nationwide Title Clearing County UpdateNationwide Title Clearing received a notice of an increased surcharge fee for all Maryland counties effective July 1st, 2011. The notice states that per Maryland HB-72, the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2011, effective July 1, 2011, the surcharge for each type of instrument recorded among the land records and the financing statement records executed on or after July 1, 2011, will be $40.00.

    This is an increase from $20 to $40 per instrument, in addition to the state transfer taxes and the recording fees.

    However, the surcharge will not apply to a Notice of Judgment, Notice of Sale or a Power of Attorney.

    Nationwide Title Clearing received notices from Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Circuit Court for Dorchester County, Harford City,  Howard City, Carroll County, to name a few.
