Denise Cote, "Dee," works in the state and county requirements department.

The month of July was very busy at NTC. During these times it is often people like Dee who really stand out. She helped NTC save $100,000 by helping to refine a process over the last six months. This kind of attention to detail is the reason she was awarded the July Employee of the Month prize, which includes a desirable parking spot and cash (and bragging rights!)

Here is our Q & A with Dee:

    1. What is your favorite part about working at NTC?

There are many things I enjoy about working at NTC. I enjoy being able to challenge myself every day. I appreciate how much the company gives back, not only to the employees, but to the community as well. Those two things are definitely my favorites.

    1. How long have you worked with NTC?

I have been with NTC for a little over two years.

    1. Have you worked in other divisions/departments at NTC? If so, which ones? And how did it help you where you are now?

I was originally hired for the “Final Docs” department as a follow up researcher. I moved up to be the Document Audit and Review lead for a year before transferring to Doc Follow Up. I’ve recently settled in to State & County Requirements. The background and training in Research has been indispensible in my current position, establishing new website for Research.

    1. What professional training/experience do you have in the housing industry and/or in your field?

Before joining the NTC team, I had no experience training in the housing industry. I had call center experience that led to my placement as a Follow Up Researcher.

    1. Do you have any hobbies/outside interests that you enjoy?

I have an eclectic array of hobbies. A few of my favorites are belly dancing, fire spinning, and many types of art.

    1. What are three things NTC team members don’t know about you?

Three things that team members don’t know about me are:

    • I am the youngest of five daughters.
    • I have five children.
    • The last oddity about me is that I am allergic to chocolate.

    1. What professional advice do you want to give to NTC team members who want to advance in their career? Do you have a mentor, did they offer you valuable advice you want to share?

I’ve had many mentors since coming to join the team. Each one has given me valuable knowledge, encouragement and building blocks to be successful in their own ways. The best advice that they gave me has been using {your company-paid daily} hour of training! The more you know the better you will be able to perform your duties. Another key piece of advice I would pass on is communication! Clear communication is an essential.

    1. Feel free to share any personal information here.

I have been with my wonderful husband for 12 years. On Halloween, we will celebrate 2 years as a married couple. We have three of five children still at home. The children range in age from 8 - 24 years old. We have four boys, well young men, and one girl.

Be sure to tune in next month for the August Employee of the Month!
