Eric helps VP of Research Dan Nordmark oversee the work of 31 employees in our Research Division.

Eric and his team work every day to deliver high quality research orders and property reports to our clients.

We sat down and asked Eric a few questions about his experience working at NTC and learned a few things about him, such as he's proficient in ASL! (American Sign Language).

What is your favorite part about working at NTC?

As a Manager and Executive at NTC, my favorite part is being able to watch the personal and professional growth of employees at NTC; it in itself is rewarding. Additional to that, I enjoy the daily challenges that are presented at NTC and being able to solve and overcome these challenges.

How long have you worked with NTC?

I started with NTC February 2007 at a temp and was officially hired in April 2007. So, I have worked with NTC a little over nine years.

Have you worked in other divisions/departments at NTC? If so, which ones? And how did it help you where you are now?

I have worked in different areas of the company,  learning and helping various division and departments.

What professional training/experience do you have in the housing industry and/or in your field?

NTC is the only experience that I have had in the housing industry. However, as far as management goes, I have an AA Business Degree and I am a senior finishing up my BAS degree.

Do you have any hobbies/outside interests that you enjoy?

I have an annual Disney pass and enjoy going to Disney as often as possible. Also, I enjoy socializing, going to the beach, playing pool or darts. People who know me may refer to me as being a little “techie” as I am always fiddling with gadgets and gizmos a-plenty. Also, I used to work for a computer repair shop where I learned to build and fix computers. Lately, I have been considered getting a drone to tinker with.

What professional advice do you want to give to NTC team members who want to advance in their career? Do you have a mentor, did they offer you valuable advice you want to share?

In business, a manager has to make fast decisions. Through experience, these decisions get better. Prior to having this experience, it may seem easier to toss problems at management or more experienced individuals for solutions. However, you will never grow this way. Always try to work out a solution for yourself and ask for advice. Your manager will be the one to tell you if it’s a good solution and to proceed or if they know of something better. This will heighten your problem-solving skills which are necessary for management to have. In essence, there are not necessarily bad solutions; there are only good solutions and better solutions. Also, balance your viewpoint between your job/position and the company. Don’t ever be too company-focused and don’t ever be too job-focused; a balance between the two will allow you to keep your area operating smoothly, yet orientate yourself towards the company goals.
