Chief Executive Officer(CEO) John Hillman is one of NTC's longest tenured employees.
CEO John Hillman has been working with NTC for 20 years and he’s been leading the company for the past 10 years. His contributions and leadership have grown the company at such a significant pace that he was awarded the HousingWire Vanguard Award ® in 2015.
Under his guidance, NTC has expanded in revenue over 350% since 2011 and the company is still growing.
John spent many years working in different areas of the company for entire days at a time to gain insight and a better understanding of those areas. This has helped him tremendously; both in understanding as well as becoming grounded as an executive and learning to utilize and promote NTC’s best people for what they excel in.
At only 45 years old, this young CEO received most of his executive training right here at NTC with his mentor and one of NTC’s founders Ike Kezsbom. His previous professional experience was in human resources and sales management at a software company where he began his career.
John thoughtfully shared some of his favorite nuggets of wisdom obtained by the late Mr. Kezsbom:
-
There are other parts to life, let people “play the piano” of their own lives – People work best when you support their lives, not just their position
-
Help people have a career, not just a job
-
Never verbally discipline someone in front of others
-
Family should come first, and NTC is also professional family
-
Encouragement works better than criticism
When John isn’t leading the company and increasing NTC’s stability and growth; he enjoys motorcycles, snowboarding, exercise, hockey, hiking, adventure sports of all kinds and travel.
John is a familly man. He and his wife Star have two sons and just on his side alone he has nine sisters, three brothers and 43 nieces and nephews. Now that’s a big family!
Stay tuned for next week’s Executive Spotlight Series as we will feature an executive from the Human Resources division.
