Aside from our CEO, Chief Operations Officer (COO) Michael O' Connell oversees the largest amount of staff at NTC encompassing Sales, Client Services, Document Production, File Services, Research and Quality.
COO Michael O' Connell is now in his twelfth year at NTC. He was head of the Sales Division for seven and a half years then grew to oversee the Client Services area before he became COO.
His favorite part of working at NTC are his strong relationships with team members and the stability of the company. He credits the company structure as one of the biggest strengths; he said it makes working here a pleasure as everyone knows what their role is and how their efforts contribute to the big picture.
When he took the title of COO, Michael's goal was to bridge the gap between the realities of sales and production. It became apparent to him that unless there was a person acting as a liaison between both areas - if something goes wrong things can go down a path of blaming each other (on the rare occasion something isn't delivered on time.)
Michael has been able to achieve that cohesiveness he sought and his leadership is one of the major reasons NTC's compliance rate is at 99.98%. Perfection is his goal and he believes it's doable. We have increased our compliance rate from 99.8% to 99.98% over the last year, with a 25% increase in volume.
While he doesn't necessary have one mentor per se, he said he receives a lot of sound advice from our CEO John Hillman that he refers to regularly.
"A smart executive will always surround himself with competent people, a really smart one will allow those people to have a say and to have input and will acknowledge those people as often as possible," he said.
The dual citizen of Australia and Ireland was a licensed real estate professional in Australia and sold property as a retirement investment vehicle. He is currently studying to become a licensed agent and subsequently a broker here in the United States.
When he's not busy driving NTC's sales, production and quality, Michael is racing motorcycles, or hiking, watching Australian football, watching rugby, playing golf, playing tournament poker, target shooting and he just got back into boating and kayaking. He also just spent a family vacation in Machu Picchu, Peru. He loves to travel and see new places with his med student daughter and wife of 29 years.
