PRIA's (Property Records Industry Association) annual conference was aptly titled "Race to Record" and it was held at the famous "Brown" Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
“Race To Record” was the theme of the conference as many of the programs addressed the need for speedy turn-around for recordings in U.S. counties. Several sessions looked at different aspects of the new TRID regulations and implications for both recorders and their business partners.
Timely recording is an important aspect of complying with these new regulations promulgated by the industry's most renowned regulatory agency.
PRIA was established as the standard-setting body for the property records industry and is committed to not only bringing both government and business the tools they require to engage in eRecording, but also providing guidelines to other business processes that affect the everyday workflow.
Our own Director of Document Completion is currently a co-chair along with Joyce Watts, the Allegan County (MI) Register of Deeds, of the "Certified Copies" Workgroup for PRIA. This workgroup will help establish a guideline or Best Practice for the Land Records industry on Certified Copies once completed. Mr. Ernissee and his co-chair did a presentation for the conference on their current efforts and results and received good feedback from various PRIA members.
Myron Finley, Chief Legal Officer recently completed his PRIA workgroup on "Indexing Standards" which resulted in a Best Practice paper approved by PRIA for our industry.
