Chief Information Officer Erika Lance was chosen to represent NTC and speak about her leadership experience in the CIO role at the Women in Technology International Conference on January 21, 2016.

The topics varied widely at this conference in Tampa last week, but mostly, the audience of over 75 people wanted to know how these incredibly dynamic executives got their roles as CIOs, CEOs and founders in the technology field.

Each of the four accomplished female panelists described a childhood that consisted of trying to live up to other people's dreams and expectations of them. Monica Eaton-Cardone, owner and founder of Chargebacks911 acknowledged she went to beauty school, as it was something that was easy for her to pursue.
Karen Mincey, VP of IT and Telecommunications at TECO Energy said she was an engineer by trade.

In her typical effusive and humorous nature, Erika started with, "Well, I grew up a nerd and all my friends were nerds."

Each woman found that they were capable of much more than just doing what came easy. They all had a passion for creating and envisioning their company's future, which is exactly what every CIO has to do every day with their teams.

NTC's CIO Erika Lance gave the crowd deep insight into her journey as one of NTC's five C-suite executives and how she appreciates the unconventional path she took to get there. With a background in HR, Client Relations and Process Flows, Erika's deep knowledge on the front side of the business is invaluable to ensure the technology team is aligned with the business goals and understand truly what NTC's clients need and want.

"The role of the CIO is to help bridge the gap between the business side and the technology sector of the company," she mentioned.

Each of the four women credited specific mentors who helped them along the way.

Cyber security was a particularly overarching topic and the importance of how to ensure the company keeps its information safe from hackers was very interesting from a wide ranging field of services.

Overall, it was a very informative evening and NTC is proud that Erika was able to showcase how our senior leadership is focused on the future to help keep our clients compliant.
