Erika Lance, a 11-year employee of NTC has been promoted to Chief Information Officer. Prior to her newest position as CIO, Lance served in other management positions, allowing her to gain the experience necessary to take over her current role in the company. Lance has worked in Human Resources, the legal department, client relations and overall organization within NTC, giving her a thorough understanding of both operational and client needs.
The tech industry has long faced a shortage of women, particularly in leadership roles. According to the National Center for Women & Information Technology, women made up just 26% of the computing workforce in 2013; Google's workforce is 30% women and 21% female in its leadership, while Yahoo's workforce is 37% and Facebook's workforce is 31% women (1). Furthermore, of CIO jobs at Fortune 250 companies, only 20% were held by women in 2012, a disparity further highlighted when juxtaposed with the fact that 57% percent of occupations in the workforce are held by women (2).
CEO John Hillman says Lance was chosen for the position of CIO due to her intimate knowledge of the process flows and system structure for the services NTC provides. From her experience in the company she has had the opportunity to gain a valuable perspective of NTC clients and what they require from NTC, allowing her to ensure client service levels are not only met, but exceeded.
